A steam boiler or boiler is an energy conversion device that converts water into steam by heating. Heating is done through a combustion process between fuel with oxygen and air. Therefore, the ratio between fuel and air is one of the important features in analyzing the performance of steam boilers. Research This aims to determine the amount of fuel required and air consumption in a water pipe steam boiler with a capacity of 21 tons of steam/hour at PT Perkebunan xyz. Analysis of a mixture of shell and fiber fuel with a ratio of 1:3 and from the results the upper heating value (HHV) for evaporating water is 3810.0239 Kcal/Kg BW and with a mixture of shell and fiber fuel the lower heating value (LHV) for evaporating water is equal to 3465.0697 Kcal/Kg BW. In the analysis of the optimal effectiveness of the water pipe type steam boiler it is 78.7%. The amount of fuel required for the water pipe steam boiler is 5 tonnes BW/hour with the theoretical air requirement for shell fuel and fiber being 5.533 Kg air/Kg fuel .
